Is Indivisible a Radical Organization? Nope.

Is Indivisible radical because it holds protests on public property? Nope. It’s public property – freedom to assemble.

Is Indivisible radical because its protest signs sometimes feature four-letter words? Nope. Freedom of speech.

Is Indivisible radical because it does not have a uniform set of messages on its protest signs? Nope. It’s good to let people show the diverse ways that injustice affects them personally.

Is Indivisible radical because it does not always have every detail of its protest activities perfectly planned out down to the last detail, and doesn’t always predict and handle every disruptive detractor and agent provocateur? Nope. What is important is to, at a minimum, take action opposing the injustices.

Is Indivisible radical because its members sometimes engage in shouting matches with detractors? Nope. First Amendment.

Actually, given the proliferation of treasonous actions coming out of the Trump Whitehouse, Indivisible would be justified in doing far more radical actions than it does.

But Indivisible does not go onto private property. Indivisible does not block traffic.

If someone thinks Indivisible is radical because it holds “protests”, those individual should take a look at historical video of protests from the 1960’s. Or from the early parts of the 1900’s when union picketers were attacked violently by lawless “police” forces armed with clubs and even rifles. Or from the 1800’s in the wild, wild west, when protestors were attacked by corporate robber barons.

Protesting may not be for everyone. There are many ways to show opposition to injustice. For example, the pen is mightier than the sword. But protesting is still not even close the “sword” - not even close to “radical” – it’s merely a reaction to injustice – it’s the people’s will.

There are many other ways to “protest”. If we can “protest” from many different angles simultaneously, that is good strategy.

Protesting may not be for everyone. But it should be for some people. Being nice does not always work.

Change never comes without some risk or sacrifice. When there is injustice, there needs to be protest. Injustice is radical. Protest is not. Nothing radical about it.
