Indivisible Montco PA & Friends Weekly Email 2/6/25

Writer's picture: Kelly WalkerKelly Walker

Good evening Indivisibles,

It's been yet another long week of chaos, confusion, and downright unhinged behavior from our "government." If you caught the National call on Sunday, 2/2 or saw Ezra on MSNBC, you'd know that our efforts are being laser focused on LOUDLY pressuring our elected officials to act against the dangerous coup that is happening right now. See below for our weekly updates, and see you for our next in-person meeting this Sunday (with plenty of time to get home to cheer on our Birds). PLEASE BRING A PHONE OR DEVICE TO CONNECT TO OUR PLATFORMS DURING OUR IN-PERSON MEETING.

Overall Update

  • Check out the photos from the Fetterman office visit on Wednesday, 2/5! Thank you to all who attended and represented our cause. This was a collaborative effort from our 5-county steering committee-- thanks to our Philly Indivisibles for making this happen! Your presence was seen and heard by the community and media, and this is exactly the type of energy we need our senators to feel. Our group delivered 50 paper letters urging him to protect our democracy, and even more letters were gathered by our partnering counties.

  • We are starting a Coffee & Chat Meetup for an informal social gathering at least once a month outside of the regular meeting. We also need to take time for fun so we don't burn out over the next 4 years. We are in this for the long haul. We have a tough fight ahead of us, so we will all need each other, because together we are stronger! Date: Saturday, 2-22-25 at 9:30am at Wegman's Cafe for Coffee & Chat. Keep checking our website events to attend.

  • At this week's meeting, we will organize into our focus groups. What is a focus group? Each focus group will help research different ways or things we can do to fight the Trump agenda. Such as Resistbot, petitions, letters and phone calls to elected officials, letters to the editor, and share news articles. For example, for the Immigration Group, we may have a Know Your Rights information sharing day in Norristown where Red Cards are to be given out. Maybe attend your local school board meeting or local township meeting and help get local Dems elected. The idea is for a group to find things out and share with the larger group as they come up. Each focus group has a group leader or two who organize the group with communications and planning. What is expected in the focus groups? The expectation is that the focus groups will meet at least once a month, in addition to the full group meeting which will be on the 2nd Sunday of every month. During these meetings, the focus group will report out to the full group. You only do what you are comfortable with and have the time for. You only commit to what you want to do. It is up to you; there is no pressure. How? We will utilize Signal and our website focus group platform to share resources.

National Calls to Action To-Do List:

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are staging an administrative coup, trying to illegally eliminate agencies, seize control of the U.S. government's payment systems, and gain access to sensitive data on all Americans without any oversight. It's time to fight back like our democracy depends on it.

Donald Trump’s executive order is a desperate and unconstitutional overreach, revealing his willingness to gamble with the rights of newborns and the foundations of American democracy. By targeting the 14th Amendment, Trump has overplayed his hand, exposing the cruelty and extremism of his agenda.

3. Demand Your Senators Block Trump's Most Dangerous Nominees (KEEP UP THE CALLS, LETTERS, AND EMAILS!)

Trump’s nominees aren’t just bad picks—they’re a direct threat to democracy and public safety. These extremists are poised to seize control of critical government agencies, weaponize federal power, and push a radical agenda that will harm everyday Americans. We must fight back.
